What's the WDV? It's the White Dude Vote--as embodied by Tim Walz
I was a student member of the American Association of Editorial Cartoonists from 2005 to 2007. My editorial work graced the cover of the Op-Ed section, “Insight,” of the Metropolitan State College (now University) of Denver’s The Metropolitan.
Part of the thing with editorials is getting political figures down, so this was my vain attempt at drawing Tim Walz—the Vice President running mate of Kamala Harris—who certainly represents “white dude.”
One feature of his face is the laugh lines—they’re so ingrained. You can tell the man grins. I drew him with a thick neck and also put glasses on him because it’s easier, and I tend to draw beady eyes on people:
Maybe I’ll do more? I know I have quite a few Trump comics I never published…speaking of white dudes and voting. This one is from January 31st, 2017:
I have more—but there’s a reason why I didn’t want to publish all of these Trump cartoons. In fact, I’ve done more W than Trump. To think I didn’t take the opportunity?
I can get uncomfortable talking about my work—but it’s because I have RSD. And please don’t say you have it, too.
Okay, go ahead.
