Resource of the Week
Darius, Therapist Cat’s long-suffering mug, presents this week’s Resource of the Week
This 16-minute guided meditation focuses on noticing and releasing limiting beliefs, self-sabotage, and the internal stories that keep repeating themselves. And, I think recognizing your limiting beliefs first helps you make room for positive self-talk. You know, you have to be aware of one behavior to replace it with another.
The link is from Insight Timer Premium, so in case you don’t want to sign up, a public transcript is available with the meditation on Insight Timer. I’ve linked to the original below and included my own snippet.
Previously on THEM CATS
Do you recall the episode where Darius the 5th starts talking in therapy? He’s the little mug old Therapist Cat had nestled between their arms.
Welcome to the cast, Darius. I have a feeling readers are going to look forward to those perfectly timed lines under New Therapist’s arms as the new mug, same character “Darius the 6th.” He may be blue or pink, or another shape of green, but I’m opting for a pink mug. What will always remain: the heavy “bags under the eyes.” It makes him look like he’s seen decades of therapy sessions (like me) and is perpetually one cup away from retirement.
Darius:
"It's fin. We've been over this."
Transcription for “Let Go of Self-Limiting Beliefs”
”…Now all of us have been exposed to limiting beliefs.
I don’t care who you are,
All of us.
That’s a key component of the human experience.
I’m not good enough.
I’m not smart enough.
I’m not pretty enough.
I’m not old enough.
I’m too old.
I’m not lovable.
I’m not likable.
People don’t respect me.
I can’t make a relationship work.
I can’t make money.
There’s an infinite amount of limiting beliefs that we have been exposed to,
That have been thrown into our garden.
And if we’re not careful,
Those limiting beliefs will grow and continue to grow.”
