How to: Change the Name of Your Substack Publication
Visual Liquid is Really Visual Liquid, for example, but if that changes, we've got options in this "how to" article.
FRONT END CHANGES
Changing the name of your Substack publication is a straightforward process. Here’s how you can do it:
Navigate to your publication’s Settings page.
Delete the current text in the Publication name field in the Basics section.
Enter the new name for your publication.
Click on Save.
Your publication name should update immediately after you save the changes. Remember, if you want to change your publication’s subdomain, you should know that it will break all existing links. It’s best to do this before you’ve published anything to avoid any broken links.
If you need to update your email sender name, you can do so in the Publication Details section of your Settings page. For any visual changes like themes, fonts, and colors, you can edit your publication’s theme from the dashboard.
BACK END CHANGES
Additionally, you can change the link to your publication so that it matches the display name of your pub. The caveat is that you can do it only once.
According to Thaddeus Thomas of The Literary Salon & Op-Ed, his pub has beginner lessons at literarysalon.substack.com.
Or should I go to "Create another publication?" If I do that, will my existing content come over to the new publication?
You are able to change the subdomain once without breaking links, if memory serves me right, which it rarely does. Your publications look promising. I had to subscribe to both. You've done a wonderful job with your one line introductions. They tell the reader exactly what to expect. Good to meet you.
