"I found out my account was as a user, not to publish, its all sorted now"
That must be the problem - I probably selected "As user" when I first set it up, so now my settings are different. I bet I need to find a way to change my account type first.
Still can't find it, but AI suggests that the change name option may not be available if my account is new. Mine is about two weeks old. Maybe I need to wait another couple of weeks.
I’m still looking for a way to change the account type! It really does take exploration to learn this platform. Thanks so much, glad you’re digging it! Tons more on my Flickr and Glass accounts, where most of my photography lives. I’ll report back if I figure out how to change the account type.
Yes, thank you, that's where I started, and hence my question here. It starts by saying that I should find a "Publication Name" field in my settings... but I don't have one. Is that old information? Has it moved? I've looked high and low but can't find an option to do that anywhere.
If you create another publication, it becomes its own entity (thing)! I would not do that. You'd have to cross-post to have the content move over to the new pub.
Yes, I am talking about my settings. I can find settings easily. I can't find any way to change my publication name there. Does that option still exist since you first published the piece?
I actually need to see what you're looking at so I can point you (or not point you) to where to change the name of your publication. It's hard to do it via comments. Please DM me.
OK, something is not clicking for me. I keep googling for "How do I change my default 'publication' which has my name to some other name?" And results tell me to go to my publication settings. But where is that? I can go to my settings, and there are a ton of options, but none of them says "Publication Name" as in your screenshot here. I feel like I'm missing some core concept. Thanks if you can help.
Is this my publication? Or is it something else? If this is my publication, how do I change its name?
You are able to change the subdomain once without breaking links, if memory serves me right, which it rarely does. Your publications look promising. I had to subscribe to both. You've done a wonderful job with your one line introductions. They tell the reader exactly what to expect. Good to meet you.
We’ve been thinking along similar lines. I’ve been encouraging people on Twitter and Facebook to give Substack and try and put together a few beginners lessons to get them started at literarysalon.substack.com. (P.S. — much of the sensitive information is behind a paywall, but I’m upgrading subscribers for free.)
Or should I go to "Create another publication?" If I do that, will my existing content come over to the new publication?
You're in luck, see this Post: https://visualliquid.substack.com/p/how-to-change-the-name-of-your-substack?r=123f9j

OOOOO—so did you set it and then “boom” you could see more???
PS: I am really liking a lot of your photography @Scot Hacker!!!

Well, hit me up--I'm happy to get on Zoom to look at what you're looking up--it's how I help trouble shoot.
What a nice offer! I’m unavailable for a few days but may reach out next week. Appreciated!

OK I won't create another one. So how do I change the name of the main/default one?
But you commented on that article...do you know how to get to your Settings? I think that's where everything begins!
